Rajasthan’s income tax revenue has seen a significant jump, reaching nearly ₹37,000 crore. This year’s income tax collections are 7% higher than last year’s. In recognition of this increased revenue, the Income Tax Department has launched a new campaign called ‘PRARAMBH 2026’. The campaign aims to improving taxpayer engagement and strengthening compliance across the state.
Officials said the increase underscores steady economic activity, improved reporting practices, and a gradual widening of the tax base. The growth has been driven by higher contributions from salaried individuals, business entities, and expanding commercial activity in urban centres such as Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Udaipur.
Tax authorities noted that the rise in collections is closely linked to enhanced compliance systems and the greater use of digital tools for monitoring and assessment. The adoption of data analytics, digital tracking of financial transactions, and risk-based scrutiny mechanisms has helped the department identify discrepancies more efficiently and improve the accuracy of income reporting.
Another contributing factor has been the ongoing shift toward a more formalised and digital economy. As digital payments replace cash, all those online transactions leave a trail. This helps the government see more economic activity and collect the right taxes. This trend has been particularly visible among small and medium enterprises gradually transitioning away from cash-heavy operations.
Officials also credited sustained taxpayer awareness efforts for the improvement in compliance levels. Over the past year, outreach campaigns and simplified return filing systems have encouraged individuals and businesses to file taxes more consistently and on time, reducing errors and delays in reporting.
The newly launched ‘PRARAMBH 2026’ initiative is expected to further strengthen this momentum by expanding taxpayer outreach and improving communication between the department and taxpayers. The programme will focus on awareness generation, education about tax procedures, and the use of digital platforms to simplify compliance processes.
Authorities said the initiative is part of a broader strategy to build a more transparent and technology-driven tax administration system in Rajasthan. It is also expected to encourage voluntary compliance by making tax processes more accessible and taxpayer-friendly.
Experts tracking fiscal developments described the 7% growth in income tax collection as a stable indicator of economic resilience, driven by recovery in key sectors such as services, tourism, and small-scale industries. However, they emphasized the need for continued efforts to expand the tax base across rural and semi-urban regions to sustain long-term growth.
The Income Tax Department is upgrading its digital systems to make filing taxes easier while strictly catching those who avoid paying. With ₹37,000 crore collected, Rajasthan recently launched ‘PRARAMBH 2026’—a major public campaign to help people understand the Income Tax Act, 2025 and promote a transparent, modern tax system.
