Google CEO Sundar Pichai stated that more than 8.5 million developers are using the company’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) models to build apps every month.
In a blog post, Pichai noted that Google plans to invest $190 billion in AI infrastructure this year, with a focus on AI data centers, custom silicon, and model training.
Pichai further added that the company is witnessing rapid growth within its AI ecosystem, and demand for its AI offerings is rising among developers, enterprises, and consumers.
Surge in Demand for Google’s AI Products
According to Google, its model APIs are now processing approximately 19 billion tokens per minute, while over the past year, more than 375 Google Cloud customers each processed over one trillion tokens.
Citing the growing usage of Google’s AI products, Pichai mentioned that the number of monthly active users for the company’s Gemini app has surpassed 900 million—more than double the figure from the previous year.
AI-powered search is also gaining immense popularity; the number of monthly users for AI Overviews has exceeded 2.5 billion, and the number of monthly active users for AI Mode has surpassed one billion.
Upgradation of AI Tools
The company also introduced several new AI tools and upgrades, including Gemini 3.5 Flash—a fast AI model focused on coding and real-world workflows—and Gemini Spark, a new personal AI agent designed to perform tasks on behalf of users.
Google has rolled out several updates to its AI infrastructure, including the latest generation of Tensor Processing Units (TPUs), which help accelerate large-scale AI training and inference processes.
Pichai affirmed Google’s commitment to its “AI-first” strategy, describing AI as the most transformative technology for advancing the company’s mission and improving people’s lives globally.
