Indian Air Force Air Show in Jaipur: Surya Kiran and Sarang Teams to Thrill Sky Over Jal Mahal on February 22

Jaipur: The skies over the Pink City are set to resonate with the roar of fighter jets and helicopters as the Indian Air Force stages a spectacular air show near Jaipur’s iconic Jal Mahal. The main aerial display is scheduled for February 22, with practice performances underway ahead of the grand event.

Two of the Air Force’s most prestigious display teams — the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team — will perform synchronized aerial manoeuvres showcasing precision, discipline and aerial excellence.

Youth Interaction Ahead of Main Air Show

Ahead of the official display, Air Force pilots interacted with NCC cadets, school students and specially-abled students at an outreach programme in Jaipur. The officers shared insights into their rigorous training, teamwork and operational discipline, inspiring young participants to consider careers in national service.

The session reinforced the Air Force motto of excellence and encouraged youth to pursue careers in defence and aviation.

Surya Kiran: Asia’s Only Nine-Aircraft Aerobatic Team

Established in 1996, the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is among the world’s elite aerobatic formations. The team flies red-and-white Hawk Mk-132 jet aircraft and is known for breathtaking manoeuvres such as loops, barrel rolls and the popular ‘DNA’ formation.

Notably, three pilots in the team hail from Jaipur, adding local pride to the event. This year, the jets are equipped with indigenously developed smoke pods manufactured in Nashik, producing tricolour trails in the sky — symbolising India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.

Sarang Team to Perform with Dhruv Helicopters

The Sarang Helicopter Display Team will perform synchronized formations using the indigenously built Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopters, manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. Known for their agility and precision, the team has conducted over 1,200 displays worldwide.

On February 22, five Dhruv helicopters will perform over Jal Mahal, offering a visually stunning spectacle for residents and visitors.

Grand Show on February 22

According to the official schedule, practice flights are being held ahead of the main performance. The grand display on February 22 will serve as the highlight, demonstrating the operational capability and professionalism of the Indian Air Force.

Jaipur administration and defence authorities are coordinating to ensure smooth arrangements so that citizens can safely witness this historic and high-adrenaline event.

Jaipur Gears Up for Historic Aerial Spectacle

With the Pink City’s skyline set to be painted in tricolour smoke trails, the Indian Air Force air show promises not only entertainment but also a strong message of national pride, discipline and excellence.

The event is expected to draw large crowds, reaffirming Jaipur’s place as a vibrant host for national defence showcases.
