Jaipur: Rajasthan’s capital emerged as a major hub for global tourism networking as nearly 200 tour operators from over 50 countries gathered in Jaipur to participate in a large-scale inbound travel mart aimed at boosting India’s international tourism footprint. The event served as a key platform to strengthen global partnerships and showcase India’s diverse travel offerings to international stakeholders.
The travel mart, part of the broader Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) 2026, brought together foreign buyers, Indian tour operators, hospitality players, and tourism boards under one roof. Organized jointly by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the event focused on promoting inbound tourism and enhancing India’s position as a preferred global destination.
The participation of such a large number of international tour operators highlights the growing global interest in India’s tourism sector. Officials noted that buyers from across continents explored various tourism segments, including heritage tourism, wildlife experiences, luxury travel, cultural circuits, and wellness tourism. The event aimed to provide international stakeholders with a deeper understanding of India’s diverse travel opportunities.
A major highlight of the travel mart was the structured Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings, where foreign tour operators engaged directly with Indian sellers. These interactions are designed to facilitate partnerships, develop new travel packages, and expand international tourist inflow. Over the years, the platform has been known for hosting thousands of such meetings, enabling direct collaboration between global buyers and Indian tourism stakeholders.
Officials emphasized that such events play a crucial role in strengthening international tourism ties and generating economic opportunities for the country. Rajasthan, known for its rich cultural heritage, historic forts, palaces, and desert landscapes, used the platform to showcase its tourism potential to global markets. Jaipur, in particular, continues to be a focal point for international tourism due to its well-established infrastructure and heritage appeal.
The event also featured exhibitions and presentations highlighting India’s tourism diversity, including emerging segments such as wedding tourism, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and experiential travel. These segments have gained significant traction in recent years, attracting high-value international travelers.
According to tourism officials, the inbound travel mart is part of a broader strategy to increase foreign tourist arrivals and boost revenue from the tourism sector. India has been actively promoting itself as a year-round destination, offering a mix of cultural, natural, and modern experiences to international visitors.
Participants appreciated the platform for providing direct networking opportunities and exposure to new markets, with many foreign buyers expressing interest in expanding their India-focused travel offerings. The event also included familiarization (FAM) tours for international delegates, allowing them to experience destinations firsthand and promote them more effectively in their respective countries.
The growing scale of participation each year reflects the increasing importance of such platforms in the global tourism ecosystem. With representatives from over 50 countries attending, the event reinforced India’s position as a competitive destination in the international travel market.
As the event concluded, stakeholders expressed optimism that the partnerships formed during the mart would translate into increased tourist inflow and stronger global collaboration. The successful event once again underlined the importance of strategic international engagement and sustained promotion in driving the growth of India’s tourism industry.
