Ajmer Ring Road Project Planned to Reduce Traffic Pressure, ₹3 Crore DPR to Be Prepared

To address the rising traffic congestion in Ajmer, authorities are planning to construct a new outer ring road around the city. The project aims to ease traffic pressure on major roads and improve connectivity between key areas.

Officials said that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the ring road will be prepared at an estimated cost of ₹3 crore, which will determine the final alignment and project details.

Rising Traffic Pressure in Ajmer

Traffic congestion has significantly increased on Ajmer’s roads in recent years due to the growing number of vehicles. Authorities believe the construction of a 200-feet-wide ring road is essential to manage traffic flow and reduce congestion within the city.

The proposed ring road will improve connectivity between Kotda, Maharana Pratap Nagar, Pushkar Road, and Jaipur Road, which are among the busiest routes in the region.

Last year, the Ajmer Development Authority carried out preliminary stone marking in some areas for the proposed outer ring road alignment.

DPR to Decide Final Route of Ring Road

The DPR will determine the exact route of the ring road and identify key areas to be connected. The proposed alignment may link several important locations, including:

  • Janana Hospital to Vijayraje Nagar
  • Prithviraj Nagar and Chaurasiyawas
  • Nausar–Pushkar Road and MDS University
  • Bhunabay–Madar to Adarsh Nagar
  • Kharekhari–Kotda–Maharana Pratap Nagar

These connections are expected to significantly improve traffic circulation around Ajmer.

Key Benefits of the Ring Road

The proposed ring road project is expected to bring several advantages for commuters and residents, including:

  • Direct connectivity between Nagaur–Jaipur Highway and Beawar Road
  • Improved access to Chaurasiyawas and Makadwali areas
  • Better connectivity for Kotda, Maharana Pratap Nagar, and Kharekhari Road
  • Easier travel between Janana Hospital and Vijayraje Nagar

The project is also expected to reduce congestion on key urban routes and provide relief to residents living near Pushkar Bypass and nearby colonies.

Land Acquisition and Compensation

Land required for the project will be acquired by the authorities. In return, landowners will receive compensation in the form of land or commercial plots, depending on the determined ratio.

Property holders will also have the option to sell the allotted commercial plots, providing them financial flexibility.

Instructions Issued by Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani

The plan to prepare the DPR for the ring road was initiated following instructions from Vasudev Devnani.

Officials said that the project may require land leveling in several hilly and rocky areas, which could increase construction costs. The overall project cost, including land acquisition and construction, is estimated to be ₹250–300 crore.

Heavy Daily Traffic on Ajmer Roads

Several major roads in Ajmer currently experience heavy traffic daily, including:

  • Madar Gate – Station Road: 30,000–35,000 vehicles
  • Agra Gate – Prithviraj Marg: 28,000–30,000 vehicles
  • Adarsh Nagar – Parbatpura Road: 38,000–42,000 vehicles
  • Ana Sagar Link Road – Vaishali Nagar: 35,000–40,000 vehicles
  • Pushkar Road – Varun Sagar Road: 25,000–28,000 vehicles
  • Janana Road – Lohagal Area: 25,000–28,000 vehicles
  • Kachhari Road – Jaipur Road: 27,000–32,000 vehicles

Authorities say the rising traffic volume is also contributing to noise and air pollution, making the ring road project increasingly important.

Tourism Adds to Traffic in Ajmer

Ajmer receives a large number of tourists and pilgrims every year, which also adds to the traffic load. Key visitor statistics include:

  • More than 30 lakh visitors annually to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah
  • Around 10 lakh tourists visit Nareli Jain Temple and Nasiyan Jain Temple
  • About 8 lakh visitors visit the Government Museum and Taragarh Fort
  • Another 8 lakh tourists visit Ana Sagar Baradari and nearby attractions
  • Around 45–50 lakh pilgrims travel between Ajmer and Pushkar every year

Officials believe the proposed Ajmer Ring Road project will play a crucial role in improving traffic management and supporting the city’s growing tourism and urban development.
