State-run oil company Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) on Friday announced the suspension of 10 LPG distributors after detecting alleged irregularities in its distribution network.
Strict Action Against Violations
In a statement shared on X, HPCL said that distributors found involved in malpractices have been suspended with immediate effect.
The company reiterated its zero-tolerance policy, stating that:
- Accountability is being strictly enforced
- Disciplinary action is being taken wherever required
Govt Steps Up to Curb Rumours and Hoarding
The action comes amid heightened government efforts to control misinformation and irregularities in LPG supply. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has recently advised States and Union Territories to:
- Counter fake news about LPG availability and pricing
- Conduct regular press briefings
- Share accurate information through media channels
Authorities noted that rumours had triggered panic buying and hoarding in some areas, putting pressure on supply chains.
Focus on Transparency and Consumer Protection
HPCL emphasized that its top priorities include:
- Protecting consumer interests
- Ensuring transparency in distribution
- Maintaining reliable service standards
The company said it is taking distributor-level violations seriously and will continue to act firmly against any practices that compromise service quality or customer trust.
Crackdown on Black Marketing
The government has also directed officials to intensify action against:
- Hoarding
- Black marketing
- Supply manipulation
Ensuring Smooth LPG Supply
Officials have reassured the public that:
- LPG supply remains adequate
- Distribution systems are functioning normally
The move is expected to strengthen oversight in the LPG distribution network and reinforce confidence among consumers.
