Kota, Rajasthan: Major drinking water infrastructure projects will get a boost in the Hadoti region as the foundation stone for the Nounera Mega Drinking Water Project and the Parvan–Akawad Mega Drinking Water Project will be laid on March 7 near the airport.

These projects, being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission, aim to provide ‘Har Ghar Jal’ (tap water to every household) across multiple districts in Rajasthan.

Nounera Mega Drinking Water Project to Benefit 749 Villages

The ₹1,661.14 crore Nounera Mega Drinking Water Project will provide tap water supply to 749 villages and six towns across Kota and Bundi districts.

The project will benefit 1,13,287 households, including:

  • 384 villages and 3 towns in Kota district
  • 365 villages and 3 towns in Bundi district

To ensure smooth implementation, the project has been divided into four execution packages.

₹3,523 Crore Parvan–Akawad Drinking Water Project

Another major initiative under the Jal Jeevan Mission is the ₹3,523.16 crore Parvan–Akawad Mega Drinking Water Project, which will supply drinking water to 1,402 villages and 276 hamlets (dhanis) across Baran, Kota and Jhalawar districts.

Once completed, the project will provide tap water connections to 1,52,437 households.

The project has been divided into five execution packages for efficient implementation.

India’s Largest Water Tunnel Under Construction

As part of the project, construction of India’s largest water tunnel at the Akawad Dam is currently in its final stage. The tunnel is being built by cutting through mountainous terrain.

This tunnel will not only support the drinking water supply system but will also help expand irrigation facilities for farmers in Baran district, improving agricultural productivity in the region.

Major Boost for Hadoti’s Water Infrastructure

Officials say the Nounera and Parvan–Akawad projects will significantly improve drinking water availability and irrigation infrastructure in the Hadoti region.

The initiatives are expected to strengthen rural water supply networks and support the government’s mission of ensuring sustainable drinking water access to every household in Rajasthan.
