Jaipur — Marking the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma addressed a gathering in Jaipur, emphasizing the vital role cooperative societies play in rural development and economic empowerment. He noted the presence of over 8.5 lakh cooperative societies across India, describing them as a lifeline for millions.

Highlighting Rajasthan’s contribution, the CM said, “Today, in this state, there are more than 41,000 cooperative societies, and over 1.10 crore people are connected to them.” He underscored how these institutions are actively involved in providing short-term loans, seeds, fertilizers, and essential services at the village level through Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), directly benefiting farmers and rural populations.

He further informed that 976 new Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS) have already been formed in the state and that within the next two years, Gram Seva Cooperative Societies will be established in the remaining gram panchayats, ensuring full rural coverage.

Chief Minister Sharma reiterated the state government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative model as a vehicle for inclusive growth, self-reliance, and grassroots development.
