Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Backs Caste Census, Sends Strong Message on National Security

Date:

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has voiced strong support for the Centre’s decision to conduct a caste-based census, calling it a necessary step to ensure equitable development in India. Speaking at a public event in Jodhpur, Shekhawat said the move will significantly benefit the poor and backward classes by helping frame more inclusive policies.

“Caste census was necessary to review the development and changes in the country post-independence. This will be for the benefit of the poor and unprivileged and will provide equal opportunities for the backward classes,” Shekhawat stated. He also welcomed the initiative, adding, “I welcome this decision by the Prime Minister.”

Switching focus to national security, the Minister made a pointed reference to historical and contemporary threats from across the border. “These Ghoris and Gaznavis (Pakistan) were there earlier as well… Our forces have given them a befitting reply earlier as well and they can answer them today too with our Agni, BrahMos missiles,” he said.

The comments, made against the backdrop of rising regional tensions, underscore the government’s dual focus on internal social justice and external security preparedness.
