Prime Minister Narendra Modi Lauds Amroha’s Dholak at Public Rally in Uttar Pradesh

Date:

In a significant development, India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, addressed a public rally in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, where he highlighted the cultural significance of the region’s traditional musical instrument, the Dholak.

“I have just been given another identity of Amroha-Dholak and the beat of the Dholak resonates far and wide,” said the Prime Minister, acknowledging the deep-rooted cultural heritage of Amroha.

The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the BJP government for their initiative in recognizing the ‘Dholak’ of Amroha all over the world by giving it a Geographical Indication (GI) tag. The GI tag is a name or sign used on certain products which corresponds to a specific geographical location or origin.

The recognition of the Amroha Dholak with a GI tag has not only preserved the cultural heritage of the region but also provided a global platform for the local artisans. This move is expected to boost the local economy and provide new opportunities for the artisans.

The Prime Minister’s speech was met with applause from the crowd, reflecting the pride of the people of Amroha in their cultural heritage. His words resonated with the audience, much like the beat of the Dholak that has now gained worldwide recognition.

This event marks a significant milestone in the promotion of India’s rich cultural diversity and the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting local arts and crafts.
