Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari yesterday held comprehensive review meetings on the quality and maintenance status of National Highway projects in Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh based on information received through media and social media platforms. These meetings were held in New Delhi in the presence of Union Ministers of State Shri Ajay Tamta and Shri Harsh Malhotra, senior officials of National Highways Authority of India and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and project contractors.
In the review meeting, Mr. Gadkari assessed the quality and maintenance status of 10,064 km of National Highways in Rajasthan. He also reviewed the quality and maintenance progress of 1,947 km of National Highway projects in Himachal Pradesh.
Shri Gadkari stressed on timely implementation of projects, strict adherence to quality standards, and adoption of advanced technologies and modern construction methods to ensure the development of sustainable, robust, and efficient highway infrastructure. He also stated that a robust highway network is crucial for improving connectivity, accelerating economic growth, enhancing passenger convenience, and ensuring seamless traffic movement on key corridors.
The Union Minister directed officials to implement a comprehensive set of pre-monsoon preparedness measures, including effective drainage management, slope protection works, proactive preventive maintenance, and rapid response mechanisms. This is aimed at minimizing disruptions, maintaining road safety, and promoting long-term asset sustainability. (PIB)
