Jaipur, March 31, 2026: In a major push to electric mobility, the Centre has approved Rajasthan’s proposal under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, paving the way for the installation of 591 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 262 locations across the state.
₹81.12 Crore Boost for EV Infrastructure
The proposal submitted by Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation has received financial assistance of ₹81.12 crore from the Union government. The project aims to address the shortage of charging infrastructure and accelerate EV adoption in Rajasthan.
Major Cities to Get Maximum Charging Stations
The plan focuses on urban centers and tourist hubs, with the highest number of stations allocated to key cities:
- Jaipur: 112 stations
- Ajmer: 49 stations
- Udaipur: 39 stations
- Kota: 28 stations
These installations are expected to significantly improve accessibility to EV charging in major urban areas.
Highway Charging to Ease Long-Distance Travel
To support inter-city travel, 34 charging stations will be installed along national and state highways. This will enable seamless EV travel between cities like Jaipur, Delhi, Ajmer, and Udaipur with access to fast-charging facilities at regular intervals.
Government Land to Be Used for Setup
A key highlight of the project is that all charging stations will be स्थापित on government land, ensuring:
- Faster implementation
- Reduced infrastructure costs
- Easy and safe public access
The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation will oversee the execution of the entire project.
Boost to ‘Green Rajasthan’ Vision
The initiative aligns with the vision of Bhajan Lal Sharma to promote clean and sustainable energy in the state. Rajasthan is already a leader in solar energy, and this move is expected to:
- Reduce carbon emissions
- Strengthen green infrastructure
- Support the transition to electric mobility
Towards a Strong EV Ecosystem in India
The PM E-DRIVE scheme aims to build a robust EV ecosystem in India, and Rajasthan is emerging as a key contributor. The expansion of charging infrastructure will not only encourage EV adoption but also position the state as a major player in India’s clean energy transition.
