Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari Reviews Rain Damage, Calls for Safety Audit of Monuments

Date:

Jaipur: Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari on Sunday visited Amer, where a portion of a historic wall had collapsed due to heavy rainfall. Following her visit, she held a meeting with officials to assess the situation and directed them to undertake a comprehensive safety audit of all monuments in the state.

Kumari emphasised that precautionary steps would be taken wherever structures are at risk due to rains. “The situation is such that wherever there are walls or buildings that seem likely to be affected by the rain, we will close them off,” she said.

Addressing the issue of damaged roads, she noted that potholes are being filled on an urgent basis, with full restoration to take place once the monsoon subsides. “The roads that have been damaged, the potholes, we are trying to fill them as much as possible right now. The rest will be restored all at once after the rain stops. We are ensuring that the new roads that will be built have good quality,” she added.

Shifting to the political front, the Deputy CM endorsed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks on corruption in politics. Supporting the Centre’s proposed legislation to bar leaders facing serious convictions from holding office, Kumari said, “Any corrupt person should not be in power… When this Bill is brought, there will be clarity, but why is the opposition contradicting this? Do they want politicians with history of conviction to come into power?”

She further added that opposition to the Bill signals tacit support for corrupt practices. “Those who don’t support this Bill might support a corrupt and criminal ideology,” Kumari remarked, stressing that transparency and accountability must remain at the core of governance.
