IPS Officer Aastha Jain Secures AIR 9 in UPSC CSE 2025, Set to Become IAS Officer

Jaipur: In a remarkable achievement, Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Aastha Jain has secured All India Rank (AIR) 9 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, fulfilling her dream of joining the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

The result has brought pride to Rajasthan, which has performed strongly in this year’s UPSC results. While Anuj Agnihotri from Rawatbhata topped the examination, Aastha Jain’s top-10 rank has further highlighted the state’s growing presence in India’s premier civil services.

Currently serving as an IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Aastha is undergoing training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad.

From IPS Officer to IAS Aspirant

Aastha Jain’s journey reflects determination and perseverance. She was selected for the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 2024 and allotted the Rajasthan cadre, becoming part of the Rajasthan Police.

However, her ultimate goal was to secure a top rank in the civil services examination and join the IAS. Despite the demanding schedule of police training in Hyderabad, she continued her preparation and successfully improved her rank to reach the top 10.

Cracked UPSC Three Times

Aastha Jain’s success story stands out for her consistent performance in one of the country’s toughest examinations.

  • First attempt: Secured AIR 131
  • Second attempt: Secured AIR 186 and joined the IPS (Rajasthan cadre)
  • Third attempt (2025): Achieved AIR 9, securing a place in the IAS

Her journey highlights perseverance, continuous improvement and strong commitment to public service.

Daughter of a Small-Town Shopkeeper

Aastha comes from a modest background in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. Her father Ajay Jain runs a small grocery business.

Despite limited resources, she pursued her education with dedication and later graduated from Miranda House, University of Delhi, one of the country’s leading colleges.

Academic Excellence Since School

According to her father, Aastha has been academically brilliant since childhood. She had secured All India Rank 4 in her Class 12 board examinations, reflecting her strong academic foundation.

Her consistent academic performance eventually translated into success in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

Inspiration for Youth and Women

As an officer of the Rajasthan cadre, Aastha Jain’s achievement is being seen as an inspiration for young aspirants, especially women preparing for civil services.

Balancing rigorous IPS training with UPSC preparation required exceptional discipline and dedication, making her success a motivating example for many.
