Jaipur, Rajasthan: BJP workers in Jaipur took out a grand torchlight procession on Thursday evening to celebrate the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, “Vande Mataram.” The event saw enthusiastic participation from party members and citizens, who marched with torches, chanting patriotic slogans and singing the historic song that once inspired India’s freedom fighters.
The procession aimed to honour the legacy of Vande Mataram, penned by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875, which played a pivotal role in uniting people during the independence movement. Participants highlighted its enduring message of national pride and unity.
Officials announced that a state-level ceremony will be held tomorrow at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur to commemorate the occasion on a larger scale. The event will feature cultural performances, exhibitions, and tributes to freedom fighters who drew inspiration from Vande Mataram.
BJP leaders said that the celebrations are part of a nationwide initiative to rekindle patriotic spirit among citizens and remind the younger generation of the song’s significance in India’s history.
