PM Modi Receives Grand Welcome in Mauritius with Traditional Geet Gawai Performance

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm and heartfelt welcome from the Indian diaspora during his visit to Mauritius on Tuesday. The highlight of the reception was a traditional Bihari cultural performance known as Geet Gawai, performed by women from the community to honor the Indian leader.

Geet Gawai is a traditional Bhojpuri musical ensemble that reflects the deep-rooted cultural heritage carried to Mauritius by women from the Bhojpuri belt of India. This art form, which has been preserved and passed down through generations, holds significant cultural and emotional value for the Indian diaspora in Mauritius.

Expressing his gratitude for the reception, PM Modi took to social media platform X, stating, “Deeply touched by the warm welcome from the Indian community in Mauritius. Their strong connection to Indian heritage, culture, and values is truly inspiring. This bond of history and heart continues to thrive across generations.”

PM Modi’s visit to Mauritius underscores the longstanding historical and cultural ties between India and the island nation. The presence of a vibrant Indian diaspora has played a key role in maintaining and strengthening these connections over the years. The event highlighted the enduring legacy of Indian traditions and the unbreakable bond shared between the two nations.
