Jaipur: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is set to inaugurate the Mukhyamantri Ayushman Arogya (MAA) voucher scheme at an event at his residence on Thursday. This new initiative, announced by Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, aims to provide free ultrasound services to expectant mothers across the state, with a particular focus on those in rural and remote areas.
The MAA voucher scheme is designed to ensure that pregnant women have access to essential sonography services without incurring any costs. Under the scheme, women will be able to avail themselves of these services at no charge in both public and private sonography centers. This move is expected to significantly enhance access to prenatal care, especially for those living in less accessible regions.
Initially introduced as a pilot project on March 8, the scheme was tested in three districts: Baran, Bharatpur, and Phalodi. The pilot project demonstrated positive outcomes, leading to the decision to expand the initiative statewide.
Health department officials have expressed optimism about the scheme’s potential to improve maternal health. They anticipate that the MAA voucher scheme will be a crucial step toward ensuring safer deliveries and reducing maternal mortality rates. By addressing gaps in access to prenatal care, the initiative aims to contribute to better health outcomes for both mothers and their newborns.
