JAIPUR – The Bhajan Lal government is gearing up to bestow a significant gift to the urban areas of Rajasthan. An impressive sum of approximately 18,500 crore rupees is earmarked for city development. This substantial investment will be directed towards the enhancement of four major cities and 26 satellite towns.

The World Bank and the Asian Development Bank have extended a proposal to the state government. The proposal outlines that 70 percent of the total amount, which is about 13,000 crore rupees, will be provided as a loan by these two banks. The remaining amount, approximately 5,500 crore rupees, will be contributed by the state government.

The initiative is part of the fifth phase of the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP). A total of 40 cities are slated for development under this phase. This includes the 10 divisional headquarters – Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, Kota, Ajmer, Bikaner, Udaipur, Pali, Sikar, and Banswara. In addition to these, four cities with high population density have also been included in the plan.

This ambitious project represents a significant step towards urban development and modernization. It is expected to boost the quality of life in these cities, providing residents with improved infrastructure and services. The Bhajan Lal government’s commitment to urban development is clear, and this initiative is a testament to their dedication to the progress and prosperity of Rajasthan’s cities.
