PM Modi’s Krishnanagar Rally: Criticism of INDI Alliance Sparks Political Controversy

Date:

Krishnanagar, Nadia – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Krishnanagar, Nadia, West Bengal, where he criticized the INDI alliance, consisting of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Congress, and Left parties.

The Prime Minister accused the alliance of practicing appeasement politics. He said, “INDI alliance consisting of TMC, Congress, and Left knows only one thing and that is appeasement.”

Modi also brought up the issue of the partition of India, blaming the Congress for dividing the country based on religion. He questioned, “What was the fault of Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, Sikhs, and Jains who were left on the other side of the border?

He claimed that a guarantee was given to take care of these communities at the time of independence, but they were later forgotten. This, according to him, led to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decision to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

The CAA, passed by the Indian Parliament in 2019, grants citizenship to persecuted minorities from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan who entered India before 2015. The act has been controversial, with critics arguing that it discriminates against Muslims.

The Prime Minister’s comments come in the context of ongoing political tensions in West Bengal. The state has been a battleground for the BJP and the ruling TMC, with both parties vying for dominance.

The rally in Krishnanagar is part of the BJP’s ongoing campaign in the state. The party is aiming to consolidate its position in West Bengal, a state where it has been making steady inroads in recent years.

The Prime Minister’s comments are likely to intensify the political debate in the state, particularly around the issues of religious identity and citizenship. As the political temperature in West Bengal continues to rise, all eyes will be on how the TMC, Congress, and Left parties respond to Modi’s remarks.
