Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Condemns AI-Generated Video of PM Modi and His Late Mother

Date:

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat strongly condemned an AI-generated video circulating on social media that allegedly depicts two characters resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother.

Calling the incident “highly unfortunate,” Shekhawat said, “This is highly unfortunate and I think strict actions should be taken against this.” He urged authorities to take immediate steps to identify those responsible and ensure that such misuse of artificial intelligence is addressed with strong legal action.

The minister’s remarks come amid rising concerns over deepfake technology, which enables the creation of highly realistic but fabricated videos, posing serious risks to privacy, reputation, and public trust.

Experts have repeatedly warned that AI-generated deepfakes can be exploited to spread misinformation and defame public figures, underscoring the need for stronger digital safety laws and awareness campaigns.

Shekhawat’s statement reflects the government’s growing focus on tackling AI-related cyber threats, with calls for swift investigation and stringent penalties to deter similar incidents in the future.
