PM Modi’s Vision for Coastal Odisha: A New Hub for Tourism and Fisheries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a public rally held in Behrampur, unveiled his government’s ambitious plans for the coastal economy of Odisha. He emphasized the central government’s focus on the development of the coastal regions and the welfare of the fishing community.

“For the first time, we have established the Ministry of Fisheries,” said PM Modi, highlighting the government’s commitment to the fishing industry. The ministry aims to provide subsidies for boat-making, a significant boost for the local fishing community.

In addition, the government has introduced Kisan Credit Cards for fishermen. This initiative will allow them to avail low-interest loans, thereby improving their economic stability and encouraging the growth of the fishing industry.

PM Modi also spoke about the government’s plans to expand beach tourism under the Coastal Circuit scheme. “We are not just focusing on the fisheries sector. We are also looking at the immense potential of beach tourism in Odisha,” he said.

The prime minister expressed his vision to transform Ganjam into a major tourism hub of India. “We want to make Ganjam the tourism hub of India,” he declared. This initiative is expected to boost local businesses and create job opportunities, contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.
