PM Modi’s Behrampur Rally: A Spotlight on Odisha’s Governance

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a public rally in Behrampur, Odisha, raised serious questions about the governance of the state under the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress party.

Highlighting the rich resources of Odisha, including water, agricultural land, mineral ores, a long sea coast, and a rich history and heritage, PM Modi questioned why the state, despite its wealth, has a high poverty rate. “Odisha is rich, but its people are poor. Why is that?” he asked the audience.

The Prime Minister attributed the state’s issues to the alleged corruption of the Congress and BJD leaders. “The sin behind this situation is the loot of the Congress and BJD leaders,” he stated, suggesting that even minor leaders of the BJD were involved in this corruption.

His comments have sparked a fresh debate on the state’s governance and development model. Critics argue that despite its rich natural resources, Odisha has been unable to translate this wealth into prosperity for its people.

The rally in Behrampur is part of PM Modi’s ongoing campaign in the state. His remarks have added a new dimension to the political discourse in Odisha, focusing on the issue of governance and development.

As the state grapples with these challenges, the impact of PM Modi’s comments on the political landscape and the future course of development in Odisha will be closely watched.
