Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-awaited new airport terminal of Jodhpur on July 4. This terminal, which was awaited for the last 35 years, is now ready to serve the public. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that after the opening of this terminal, flight operations will be more convenient for people.
To Become a Major Aviation Hub for Western Rajasthan
Speaking to the media upon his arrival at the Jodhpur airport from New Delhi, Shekhawat remarked that the Jodhpur airport serves as a key air connectivity hub not just for the city, but for the entire Western Rajasthan region. He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, both the national economy and air travel have witnessed rapid growth, leading to a steady rise in passenger numbers.
New Terminal Built to Handle Rising Passenger Load
Shekhawat explained that the existing terminal was facing increasing passenger pressure, creating a need for a new facility equipped with modern amenities. He stated that the technical approval process for the terminal is in its final stages, and an inspection committee is currently on-site. All formalities are expected to be completed by Friday evening or, at the latest, by Saturday.
Boost to Tourism, Trade, and Investment
The Union Minister said that starting July 4, residents of Jodhpur and the entire Western Rajasthan region would benefit from improved and convenient air travel facilities provided by the modern terminal. He added that the new terminal would also give fresh impetus to tourism, trade, and investment in the region.
Prime Minister to Gift Multiple Projects to Rajasthan
Earlier, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma had announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would gift several major development projects to Rajasthan on July 4. The foundation stone for the Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project, estimated to cost around ₹13,000 crore, will also be laid on the same day.
Inauguration of Pachpadra Refinery Also Scheduled
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the Pachpadra Refinery in Barmer on July 4. The event was originally scheduled for April 21 but was postponed following a fire incident at the refinery on April 20.
