NAMASTE Scheme Awareness Programme in Pilibhit on February 26; PPE Kits and Ayushman Cards to Be Distributed

Date:

Pilibhit (Uttar Pradesh): The Government of India will organise an awareness and outreach programme under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) Scheme on February 26 at Gandhi Auditorium, Gandhi Stadium, near Jeevan Rekha, Naksha, Pilibhit.

The event aims to promote the NAMASTE scheme and strengthen safety, dignity, and social security for sanitation workers across the region.

PPE Kits and Ayushman Cards for Sanitation Workers

During the programme, sewer and septic tank workers (SSWs) and waste pickers will be provided with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits to ensure their safety while carrying out sanitation-related tasks.

Beneficiaries will also receive Ayushman Cards under the Ayushman Bharat, enabling them to access health coverage and financial protection against medical expenses.

Additionally, beneficiaries who have completed skill development training will be given sewing machines to support self-employment and alternative livelihood opportunities.

Promoting Safety, Dignity and Economic Empowerment

The programme will also create awareness about the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) scheme, which focuses on mechanising sanitation work, eliminating hazardous manual cleaning practices, and ensuring occupational safety for sanitation workers.

Officials said the initiative is aligned with the government’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of historically marginalised communities. The scheme aims to ensure that sanitation workers and waste pickers receive adequate protection, social security benefits, and opportunities for skill development and economic empowerment.

The event is expected to reaffirm the government’s focus on inclusive development and ensuring that vulnerable sections of society receive the support and dignity they deserve.
