Arjun Ram Meghwal Defends Language Policy Amid Row, Highlights NEP 2020 Provisions

Date:

Bikaner, Rajasthan — Amid ongoing debates over language and regional identity, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has reiterated the central government’s commitment to promoting all Indian languages equally under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Speaking in Bikaner, Meghwal said, “This is part of the National Education Policy 2020. The Government of India has clearly stated that whatever the Indian language may be, we will respect it and promote it.”

He also highlighted the recognition of Marathi as a classical language under the BJP-led government, taking a dig at the opposition. “We have given Marathi the status of a classical language. Was this done during the Congress regime?” he asked.

Meghwal further stressed that the development of all Indian languages — including Hindi — is underway, as part of a broader strategy to preserve linguistic diversity while fostering national unity.
