Rajasthan Minister Avinash Gehlot Defends RSS Amid Row Over Digvijaya Singh’s 26/11 Remarks

Date:

In response to resurfaced comments made by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in 2010 regarding the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Rajasthan Minister Avinash Gehlot has come out strongly in defense of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Speaking at a press conference in Jaipur, Gehlot stated, “RSS is completing a century this year, and in these 100 years, it has worked only for the country and for its people. All leaders of the Congress have worked for themselves, for their family, and for appeasement.”

Gehlot’s remarks come amid a renewed political flashpoint over Singh’s controversial past statement, in which he had cast doubts on the official narrative of the 26/11 attacks, suggesting potential involvement of elements beyond Pakistan-based terrorists.

The BJP has consistently condemned Singh’s remarks over the years, viewing them as part of a broader narrative that questions the patriotism of nationalist organizations like the RSS. With the centenary of the RSS being observed this year, Gehlot’s comments appear aimed at reaffirming the organization’s contributions and legacy.

The Congress party has not issued a fresh statement in response to the latest remarks from the Rajasthan minister. However, political observers expect the issue to gain traction as election season approaches.
