Kailash Vijayvargiya Criticizes Mamata Banerjee, Highlights Central Assistance for Urban Development

Date:

Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya highlighted the increase in central government funding for urban development and took a sharp dig at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of destroying democracy in her state.

Speaking on urban development, Vijayvargiya said, “I was fortunate to serve as the Urban Administration Minister before 2014. Back then, assistance from the central government was limited. But now, under the current government, local bodies receive a massive budget, enabling significant improvements in city development and cleanliness.” He acknowledged the challenges in urban governance but expressed optimism about ongoing progress.

Switching gears to political criticism, Vijayvargiya launched an attack on Mamata Banerjee’s leadership in West Bengal, accusing her of suppressing democracy and fostering political violence.

“She has kept the whole democracy locked in a cage. Before making any statements, she should first check if democracy even exists in her own state. Political workers are killed daily, and the police refuse to register complaints,” he alleged.

He further claimed that 50% of polling booths in West Bengal are captured and accused Banerjee’s party of operating a nexus between the police, criminals, and politicians.

“If truly free and fair elections were held in Bengal, Mamata’s party wouldn’t stand a chance—her candidates would lose their deposits,” Vijayvargiya asserted.

His remarks come amid rising political tensions between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress (TMC) as both parties prepare for upcoming elections.
