UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs David Lammy concluded a productive diplomatic visit to India, aimed at strengthening ties and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two nations. Lammy’s visit, the first of its kind by the Labour government under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, focused on enhancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with India across various sectors.
During his meetings with Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Lammy underscored the mutual commitment to deepen economic engagement and strategic collaboration. Discussions centered on advancing the bilateral Technology Security Initiative and making substantial progress towards finalizing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which promises to unlock significant opportunities for trade and investment between the UK and India.
“The discussions have been constructive and forward-looking, reflecting our shared vision for a robust partnership that embraces innovation and addresses global challenges,” Lammy stated following the meetings.
