PM Modi Highlights Fishermen’s Plight in South Goa Rally

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a public rally in South Goa, drew attention to the long-neglected fishermen community of India. He criticized the Congress party for their lack of attention towards this community post-independence.

“There were fishermen when the country got independent and during the era of Lord Ram,” said PM Modi, emphasizing the deep roots and significance of the fishing community in India’s history and culture.

He further added, “But after independence, the Congress never remembered the fishermen.” This statement was a direct critique of the Congress party’s alleged neglect of the fishermen community.

Highlighting his government’s initiatives, PM Modi said, “It is Modi who made a separate ministry for the fisheries department.” This move, according to him, was a significant step towards recognizing and addressing the needs of the fishing community.

In addition to the establishment of a separate ministry, the Modi government also introduced the Kisan Credit Card for the fishermen. This initiative aims to provide financial support and empower the fishermen community.

The rally in South Goa comes at a time when the BJP is making concerted efforts to consolidate its presence in the state. The focus on the fishermen community is seen as a strategic move to garner support from this significant voter base.

PM Modi’s speech was well-received by the attendees, with many expressing hope for more such initiatives for the upliftment of the fishing community.
