Rajasthan Schools to Launch AI-Based Oral English Learning Drive from May 4

Date:

Jaipur: In a major step towards modernising classroom learning, the Rajasthan government is set to launch an AI-based oral English learning drive in government schools from May 4. The initiative aims to improve spoken English skills among students, particularly those in rural and underprivileged areas, by leveraging advanced technology.

Officials said the programme will use artificial intelligence tools to provide interactive and personalised learning experiences, helping students overcome hesitation and build confidence in communication. The move reflects the state’s growing focus on integrating technology into education to bridge learning gaps.

The primary objective of the initiative is to enhance oral English proficiency, an area where many government school students struggle due to limited exposure and practice. Through AI-enabled platforms, students will be able to practice pronunciation, engage in guided conversations, and receive instant feedback.

Education department officials believe that spoken English is a critical skill for higher education and employment opportunities, and improving it at the school level will significantly boost students’ future prospects. The programme is expected to cover a large number of students across various districts, ensuring wide outreach.

The AI-based system will offer customised learning paths, adapting to each student’s pace and level of understanding. This ensures that learners who need extra support can receive targeted assistance, while others can progress at a faster rate.

This initiative builds on earlier efforts by the state, where AI tools were used to assess reading fluency among lakhs of students, highlighting the government’s increasing reliance on digital solutions in education. Experts say such programmes can transform traditional teaching methods by making learning more engaging and interactive. AI-driven tools can simulate real-life conversations, helping students practice language skills in a practical and immersive manner rather than relying solely on textbooks.

One of the key goals of the drive is to reduce the communication gap between students from rural and urban backgrounds. Limited access to quality language training has often placed rural students at a disadvantage, particularly in competitive exams and job interviews.

By introducing AI-based learning, the government aims to democratise access to quality education tools, ensuring that students from all regions can benefit equally. Officials also highlighted that the initiative will support teachers rather than replace them, acting as a supplementary tool to enhance classroom teaching.

The launch of this programme signals a forward-looking approach to education, where digital innovation plays a central role in skill development. Authorities believe that early exposure to technology-driven learning will prepare students for a rapidly evolving global environment. If implemented effectively, the initiative could become a model for other states looking to integrate AI into school education. By focusing on practical communication skills and personalised learning, Rajasthan is taking a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and future-ready education system.
