Ajmer: The 89.785-km Jaipur–Kishangarh stretch of National Highway-48 will soon be upgraded to a six-lane highway after receiving government approval. The project will be implemented at an estimated cost of ₹910.90 crore, significantly improving road connectivity in Rajasthan.
The development comes following efforts by Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary, who had pushed for the approval of the road upgradation project.
Service Roads, Flyovers Planned in Project
According to the minister, the project will widen the Jaipur–Kishangarh section of National Highway 48 to six lanes.
Key features of the project include:
- Service roads on both sides of the highway
- Construction of flyovers at key locations
- Development of the road as a partially access-controlled corridor
These improvements are expected to enhance traffic flow and road safety while reducing congestion along the busy route.
Travel Time Between Jaipur and Kishangarh to Reduce
Once completed, the upgraded highway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Jaipur and Kishangarh.
Currently, the journey between the two cities takes around two hours. After the road is expanded to six lanes, the travel time is expected to reduce by nearly one hour.
The construction of service roads and flyovers will also help separate local traffic from the main highway, reducing conflict points and lowering the risk of accidents.
Demand Raised with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
Bhagirath Choudhary said the demand for upgrading this stretch had been pending for a long time, particularly from residents of the Kishangarh Assembly constituency, which falls under the Ajmer parliamentary region.
He had earlier met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and submitted a letter highlighting the need for the project while requesting its early approval.
Boost to Regional Economy and Connectivity
Once completed, the project is expected to benefit residents, traders, farmers, and commuters in the Ajmer region, particularly in Kishangarh.
Improved road connectivity will make transportation smoother and accelerate trade, tourism, and economic activities in the region.
The Jaipur–Kishangarh six-lane highway project is being seen as an important step toward strengthening infrastructure and connectivity in Rajasthan.
