UP Signs Green Hydrogen MoU with Japan’s Yamanashi as CM Yogi Adityanath Leads Investment Push

Date:

Tokyo/Yamanashi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath secured a major breakthrough during his Japan visit as the UP government signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture on Green Hydrogen technology.

The agreement will facilitate advanced training for Indian students in Japan and promote the adoption of green hydrogen solutions in Uttar Pradesh’s industry, public transport and energy sectors.

Green Hydrogen Collaboration to Boost Clean Energy

The MoU focuses on technology transfer, skill development and implementation of green hydrogen solutions in Uttar Pradesh. Students from higher technical institutions in UP will receive specialized training in Japan to gain expertise in hydrogen-based clean energy systems.

Officials said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Net Zero emissions vision and strengthens India–Japan cooperation in sustainable energy.

UP Investment Roadshow in Yamanashi

During the UP Investment Roadshow held in Yamanashi, CM Yogi showcased Uttar Pradesh’s new development policies and investment opportunities to global industry leaders.

He highlighted that UP has transformed its governance model from “reactive” to “proactive,” which has accelerated economic growth and improved investor confidence.

The delegation also participated in multiple Government-to-Government (G2G) and Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings in Tokyo, engaging with Japanese industry groups in collaboration with the Indian Embassy.

Robotics and Future Technologies in Focus

Emphasizing emerging technologies, CM Yogi described robotics as a key sector for the future. He announced that Uttar Pradesh has allocated budget provisions to establish a Centre of Excellence in Robotics.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that cooperation between UP and Yamanashi will elevate India–Japan relations while contributing to energy self-reliance and technology-driven development.

UP’s Growing Economic Strength

CM Yogi highlighted that Uttar Pradesh, with a population of nearly 250 million, is India’s largest state and is rich in fertile land, water resources and human capital.

Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, UP has witnessed rapid economic progress over the past nine years, with per capita income and the state economy reportedly tripling. Today, UP is counted among India’s fastest-growing economies.

Strengthening India–Japan Partnership

The Chief Minister thanked the Governor of Yamanashi and the Japanese administration for facilitating direct engagement between industry leaders and the Indian delegation.

He noted that the collaboration gained momentum after the Yamanashi Governor’s visit to Uttar Pradesh in December 2024, followed by continued dialogue and delegation exchanges.

The latest MoU marks a concrete step toward deepening bilateral cooperation in clean energy, advanced technology and industrial growth, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a key player in India’s sustainable development journey.
