Rajasthan Govt Plans 24-Hour Markets in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur to Boost Tourism and Business

Date:

Jaipur: In a major push to strengthen tourism and commercial activity, the Rajasthan government is preparing to allow 24-hour markets in major cities including Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota, and Udaipur.

The move is expected to significantly boost business, generate employment, and enhance the state’s appeal as a tourism and service hub. The initiative aligns with the government’s focus on improving ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and ‘Ease of Living’ by providing transparent and simplified facilities to traders.

Single Window System and Deemed Licensing Proposed

During a recent high-level meeting, Chief Secretary C. Srinivas indicated that key reforms are being planned for shops and commercial establishments. These include:

  • Implementation of a Single Window System
  • Introduction of Deemed Licensing
  • Provision of Lifetime Registration for businesses

Additionally, for low-risk business categories, the mandatory field inspection requirement may be removed. Under the proposal, electricity connections could be issued based on self-certification, making it easier and faster to start operations.

Boost for Tourism, Employment and Service Sector

Trade bodies believe that allowing markets to operate round the clock will increase customer footfall, especially in tourism-driven cities like Jaipur and Udaipur. Extended business hours are also expected to create new job opportunities and support hospitality, retail, and service industries.

Digital permissions and time-bound approvals will further streamline the process of starting and running businesses, making Rajasthan more competitive in attracting investments and promoting economic growth.

If implemented, the 24-hour market policy could transform major urban centers into vibrant commercial and tourism hotspots, strengthening Rajasthan’s economy and urban infrastructure.
