Chandpole Gate Issue: BJP MLA Backs Disturbed Areas Bill, Calls for Lawful Resolution

BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya on Sunday commented on the ongoing dispute between two MLAs over construction activity near Chandpole Gate in Jaipur, emphasising the need for lawful processes and maintenance of public order in the walled city.

Speaking to the media, Acharya expressed support for the state government’s disturbed areas legislation, thanking the BJP government and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma for introducing the bill. He said the law aims to ensure orderly urban development and enable residents to live peacefully, particularly in sensitive areas of the city.

Referring to the situation at Chandpole Gate, Acharya alleged that there was an attempt to carry out construction in violation of existing regulations. He stated that any activity not compliant with legal provisions should be addressed strictly through administrative and legal channels, and cautioned against actions that could disturb communal harmony.

The remarks come amid heightened attention on development and construction activities within Jaipur’s historic precincts, where regulations are in place to preserve heritage structures and maintain civic order. Officials have reiterated that any construction in such zones requires appropriate permissions and adherence to prescribed norms.

Political observers note that the disturbed areas framework is intended to regulate property transactions and development in notified localities to prevent disputes and ensure transparency. Authorities have urged all stakeholders to maintain restraint and allow due process to take its course.

The state administration has indicated that the matter will be examined by the relevant civic and law enforcement agencies, with a focus on upholding the rule of law and preserving peace in the area.
