Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Remarks on GST and Constitutional Bodies

Date:

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal strongly criticized Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of spreading misinformation and undermining India’s constitutional institutions. Addressing the media in Bikaner, Meghwal said that Gandhi has been making baseless allegations against key bodies such as the Election Commission, Parliament, and the Lok Sabha Speaker, while presenting what he termed as misleading evidence to support his claims.

The minister specifically targeted Gandhi’s recent statements on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, calling them unfounded. Meghwal reminded that during the Congress-led UPA government’s 10-year tenure, the GST framework was never implemented despite being discussed for years. “Rahul Gandhi makes baseless statements regarding the GST reforms. You did not bring the GST during your 10 years in the government. You are pained that PM Modi brought it and you could not,” Meghwal asserted.

He further alleged that Gandhi’s repeated criticism of constitutional authorities shows a lack of trust in democratic processes. Meghwal defended the Modi government’s GST policies, highlighting them as a landmark economic reform aimed at simplifying India’s tax structure and benefiting both consumers and businesses.

The Union Minister urged the Congress leader to engage in constructive politics rather than attempting to discredit national institutions for political gain, stressing that India’s democratic framework remains strong and resilient under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership.
