Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Highlights India’s Healthcare Progress Under PM Modi’s Leadership

Jodhpur, RajasthanUnion Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat lauded the transformative strides made in India’s healthcare sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Speaking at an event, Shekhawat outlined several initiatives launched by Modi over the years to improve healthcare access and promote preventive healthcare across the nation.

“Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, the manner in which work has been done for preventive healthcare – he initiated the Fit India Movement, advocated for Yoga, and inspired people to make it a part of our daily life,” Shekhawat began. He emphasized that initiatives like Khelo India have been instrumental in encouraging people to engage in sports and physical activities, further supporting the nation’s health and well-being.

Shekhawat also highlighted government efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure, particularly in rural areas. “From wellness centres in rural areas to the construction of AIIMS, we will increase 75,000 new seats in the country in the next 5 years to ensure that the number of doctors in the country increases,” he said, referring to ongoing projects aimed at boosting healthcare capacity nationwide.

The Union Minister further applauded the government’s efforts to expand government sector hospitals and AIIMS facilities, which have significantly increased the number of beds and overall healthcare access. “The manner in which PM Modi has worked in the last 10 years to take the healthcare sector forward, we can see its impact within the country as well as globally,” Shekhawat said. He added that this expansion has freed up capacity in private sectors, positioning India as a global leader in medical tourism.

“Several people across the world are coming to India to get their medical treatment done at lower costs,” he noted, emphasizing that India’s enhanced healthcare system has made the country a hub for affordable and high-quality medical care.

Shekhawat’s remarks underline the government’s ongoing commitment to healthcare expansion and medical innovation as part of India’s broader efforts to ensure that healthcare services are accessible, affordable, and world-class for all citizens.
