Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Mr. Nukaga Fukushiro, Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, along with a distinguished Japanese delegation, held a pivotal meeting in New Delhi to advance the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between India and Japan.

The talks centered on the progress made towards the ambitious goal of a 5 trillion Japanese Yen investment in India for the 2022-2027 period. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved and discussed strategies to further enhance economic and business ties beyond this timeline. Key areas of focus included traditional manufacturing, known as monzukuri, as well as burgeoning sectors such as semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), and renewable energy.

These programs are designed to impart skills in Japanese language, culture, and work practices, aimed at bridging gaps between the two nations and fostering a more robust partnership. Mr. Nukaga highlighted the importance of involving the private sector in these educational efforts to ensure their success and long-term impact.

Prime Minister Modi highlighted the improvements and reforms in India’s business environment, which are aimed at attracting greater Japanese investment and technological innovation. He assured the Japanese delegation of the Indian government’s full support in facilitating these efforts, emphasizing the shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations.

The discussion also reaffirmed the importance of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project, which both sides view as a cornerstone of their collaborative efforts. The meeting set a positive tone for the future, underlining a mutual commitment to advancing the partnership and exploring new opportunities for cooperation across various sectors.
