Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed India’s trajectory towards becoming a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) during the inaugural session of the ‘Journey Towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference,’ organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The event, held in New Delhi, was a platform to discuss the impact of the recent Union Budget and the country’s development strategies.
In his address, Modi highlighted significant progress made in poverty alleviation over the past decade. “In the last ten years, 25 crore people have escaped the clutches of poverty,” Modi said, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing the Ease of Living and Quality of Life for its citizens.
The Prime Minister lauded key government initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth and entrepreneurship. Programs such as Mudra Scheme, Startup India, and Standup India have been pivotal in empowering millions of Indians. Modi revealed that over 8 crore people have launched businesses through these schemes, illustrating their widespread impact.
Further, Modi emphasized the provisions of the recently announced budget, including a substantial ₹2 lakh crore PM Package designed to benefit over 4 crore youth. This package aims to offer a comprehensive approach to elevate India’s workforce and ensure its global competitiveness. The budget also introduces new internship schemes and incentives for EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation) contributions, which are expected to enhance job opportunities and support employers across various sectors.
“This budget is not just about numbers; it’s about building a future where India’s workforce is not only large but also globally competitive,” Modi stated. The measures outlined are seen as integral steps towards fostering skill development and enhancing employment prospects in the country.
The conference, attended by industry leaders and policymakers, provided a platform for discussing the collaborative efforts required to achieve the vision of a developed India.
