PM Modi Reflects on Balasaheb Thackeray’s Legacy Amidst Current Political Turmoil

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent interview with the Lokmat Media Group, paid tribute to the late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray. He highlighted Balasaheb’s commitment to national interests and his opposition to appeasement politics.

“Balasaheb is one of the most important and influential leaders in the history of our country,” PM Modi stated. He further added that he has always maintained a respectful relationship with every member of Balasaheb’s family, regardless of the political dynamics.

However, PM Modi expressed concern over the current political scenario. He questioned how Balasaheb would have reacted to the present state of affairs, particularly the disrespect shown towards Veer Savarkar and the celebration of Aurangzeb. He also expressed his dismay at alliances being formed with parties that disrespect Sanatana Dharma.

“Mumbai and its people held a special place in Balasaheb’s heart,” PM Modi said. He wondered how Balasaheb would have felt about the use of those convicted in the Mumbai bomb blasts for political campaigning, or about alliances with those who openly express their intent to destroy Sanatan Dharma.

The Prime Minister concluded his interview with a thought-provoking question: “Can anyone claim to be upholding the legacy of Balasaheb after doing such things?” His words serve as a stark reminder of the ideological differences that continue to shape India’s political landscape.
