‘India Chem 2026’, India’s premier event for the chemicals and petrochemicals industry, will be held from October 22 to 24 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, NESCO, in Mumbai. The 14th edition is being organized by the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
This three-day event will bring together global industry leaders, investors, policymakers and technology experts to discuss opportunities for trade, investment and international collaboration within the sector. Union Minister JP Nadda will inaugurate the event, while Union Minister of State Anupriya Patel will also be in attendance. The theme for this year is “Advantage Bharat: An Emerging Global Chemicals Hub.”
Global Participation to Boost Investment Opportunities
India Chem 2026 is expected to attract participants from more than 100 countries, more than 200 Indian and international exhibitors, over 8,000 business visitors and more than 50 CEOs at the Global CEO Forum. Japan will participate in the event as a partner country. This is likely to provide opportunities to further strengthen economic cooperation between India and Japan.
Delegations from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will showcase investment opportunities in chemical hubs and Petroleum, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Investment Regions (PCPIRs). The event will also feature discussions on joint ventures, technology transfer, contract research and manufacturing, and global sourcing.
Indian Chemical Industry Eyes $1 Trillion by 2040
India is the world’s sixth-largest chemicals producer and the fourth-largest in Asia. The country’s chemical industry is projected to reach $300 billion by 2030 and $1 trillion by 2040, driven by rising demand, export potential, infrastructure development and supportive government initiatives.
The exhibition will cover basic and specialty chemicals, agrochemicals, fertilizers, dyes and pigments, pharmaceutical ingredients, polymers, engineering plastics and sustainable materials. It will also showcase process plant machinery, automation, digitalisation, robotics, artificial intelligence and environmental management technologies.
Sustainability and Advanced Technologies in Focus
The objective of India Chem 2026 is to strengthen industry partnerships, foster technological innovation and attract investment into a sector that is vital to India’s manufacturing ambitions. The previous edition in 2024 recorded participation of over 15,000 individuals, including representatives from 72 countries, 172 exhibitors, 78 global CEOs, and 8,720 business visitors. The upcoming edition aims to build upon this engagement and expand India’s role within the global chemical and petrochemical value chain.
This program will highlight opportunities related to bio-based chemicals, recycling, circular-economy solutions, biodegradable polymers, nanomaterials, composites, and high-performance materials. Furthermore, discussions will also cover Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) solutions, industrial safety, skill development, startup incubation, and supply-chain services.
