PM Vishwakarma Marks 3 Years With 30 Lakh Artisans Registered Under the Scheme

Date:

The PM Vishwakarma scheme has completed 3 years, with 30 lakh traditional artisans and craftspeople registered across India, the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) said on Thursday.

The third anniversary of this scheme was celebrated at Kolkata’s Dhono Dhanyo Auditorium, marking the formal inclusion of West Bengal for its implementation starting in May 2026. The primary objective of the event was to enhance access to skill training, modern tools, concessional loans, and market opportunities for the state’s traditional artisans.

An exhibition showcasing the traditional art and craft of Vishwakarma artisans was also organized in Kolkata. PM Vishwakarma ID cards and certificates, toolkits, and cheques worth ₹1 lakh were distributed to beneficiaries from West Bengal. More than 2,000 Vishwakarmas and Panchayat office-bearers from various districts participated in this program.

Suvendu Adhikari stated that over 7 lakh applications have been received in the state under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. He emphasized the need for rapid implementation and better coordination between state and central agencies to ensure the scheme’s benefits reach eligible artisans.

According to the Ministry of MSME, approximately 24.50 lakh beneficiaries have completed basic skill training, while 18.15 lakh modern toolkits have been distributed through India Post. Around 6.18 lakh Vishwakarmas have received loans of up to ₹1 lakh at a concessional interest rate of 5%, and the total loan disbursement has reached ₹5,297 crore.

Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi highlighted the scheme’s progress since its launch on September 17, 2023, saying its support framework is aimed at strengthening the skills, tools, financing and market access available to traditional craftspeople. The objective of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana is to empower traditional artisans through skill development, modern toolkits, affordable credit, and market linkages, enabling them to build sustainable businesses.
