India Launches AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 to Bolster Ebola Screening at Airports and Entry Points

Date:

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) today launched Air Suvidha 2.0, an advanced contactless passenger health self-declaration portal aimed at strengthening public health surveillance at points of entry in response to the ongoing Ebola disease outbreak.

This step follows the WHO’s declaration on May 17, 2026, designating the Ebola/Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a ‘Public Health Emergency of International Concern’ (PHEIC) under the International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005. The current outbreak has been confirmed as Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD), and countries bordering the DRC and Uganda—including South Sudan—have been identified as being at high risk of infection (as updated by the WHO).

This portal enables international travelers to submit a mandatory online health self-declaration prior to immigration clearance—covering their travel history for the past 21 days, exposure history, and relevant symptoms. This portal facilitates real-time data sharing with Airport Health Officers, the Bureau of Immigration, IDSP, and state surveillance officers. This makes it easier to rapidly identify and refer at-risk passengers.

The Air Suvidha Self Declaration Form (SDF) can be completed up to 24 hours before arriving in India. Passengers are advised to fill out the form before boarding their flight, preferably during web check-in, to ensure a faster arrival process. Upon arrival, travelers may be required to present the downloaded SDF at the International Travel Health Desk or the Immigration Counter. (PIB)
