Rajasthan Education Department to Promote Over 12,000 Employees After DPC Meeting

Date:

Jaipur, April 2026: In a major administrative development, the Government of Rajasthan has recommended the promotion of more than 12,000 employees in the state’s secondary education department following a key Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting held in Jodhpur.

According to official sources, the DPC has cleared the promotion of 12,115 personnel, making it one of the largest promotion exercises in the education sector in recent years.

Large-scale promotions after long delay

The move comes after prolonged delays in conducting promotion exercises, which had led to stagnation among employees and a large number of vacancies in senior positions across government schools.

Officials stated that the latest decision is aimed at clearing the backlog and ensuring timely career progression for eligible staff.

Objective: Fill vacancies and improve efficiency

The primary objectives of the promotion drive include:

Filling long-pending vacancies in higher posts
Strengthening staffing in government schools
Improving administrative efficiency and academic supervision

By elevating experienced personnel to higher roles, the department aims to enhance governance and overall school performance.

Impact on education system

The promotions are expected to benefit a wide range of employees, including teaching and administrative staff in the secondary education department. Authorities believe the move will:

Improve leadership at the school level
Strengthen policy implementation
Reduce workload pressure on existing staff

Background concerns

The decision follows concerns over delays in holding DPC meetings in recent years. The issue had drawn criticism from employee groups, who highlighted the lack of career advancement opportunities.

The latest promotions are seen as a corrective step to streamline the system and address these long-standing concerns.

Next steps

The recommendations made by the DPC will now be sent for final approval. Once approved, promotion orders will be issued in phases, followed by postings and transfers.

Significance

With over 12,000 employees set to benefit, the move is expected to boost morale within the education department and improve the functioning of government schools across Rajasthan.

Education experts view this as a significant administrative step that could positively impact both governance and the quality of education in the state.
