Jaipur Mega Development Push: Metro Phase-2, 36 KM Elevated Road and Global Skill Centre Announced

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced a major development package for Jaipur during the Budget Session of the State Assembly, unveiling large-scale infrastructure, skill development, and housing initiatives for the Pink City.

The key highlights include the launch of Jaipur Metro Phase-2, a 36-kilometre elevated road along the Dravyavati River, a global skill development centre for youth, and a dedicated housing scheme for journalists.


Jaipur Metro Phase-2: ₹13,600 Crore Expansion

In a major boost to urban mobility, the Chief Minister announced that work on Jaipur Metro Phase-2 will begin soon.

Project Details:

  • Length: Approximately 42.80 kilometres
  • Estimated Cost: ₹13,600 crore
  • Objective: Expand metro connectivity to key parts of the city

The expansion is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, improve public transport access, and lower pollution levels across Jaipur.


36 KM Elevated Road Along Dravyavati River

To ease traffic flow further, the government has proposed a 36-kilometre elevated road along the Dravyavati River.

  • A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been directed for immediate preparation.
  • The signal-free corridor will connect one end of the city to the other.
  • The project aims to ensure smoother and faster travel across Jaipur.

The elevated corridor is being described as a major engineering initiative that could transform city commuting patterns.


₹450 Crore Global Skill Centre for Youth

To enhance employability and prepare youth for global opportunities, the Chief Minister announced the establishment of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Global Centre for Advanced Skilling in Jaipur.

  • Investment: ₹450 crore
  • Focus: Advanced technologies and future-ready skills
  • Goal: Equip youth with industry-relevant training to secure high-paying global jobs

The centre will focus on modern skill development aligned with international market demands.


Housing Scheme for Journalists

In a move aimed at supporting media professionals, the state government announced a dedicated housing scheme for journalists.

  • The scheme will be implemented by the Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB).
  • The initiative addresses long-standing demands from journalist associations for organized residential facilities in Jaipur.

The combined announcements signal a comprehensive development push focusing on urban infrastructure, transport modernization, youth empowerment, and social welfare.
