Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma Highlights Support for Farmers and Women Through Agriculture Reforms

Date:

Alwar — Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday emphasized his government’s strong push for agricultural development and women empowerment, noting key reforms aimed at enhancing rural livelihoods.

Addressing a gathering in Alwar, Sharma said, “You can see that in the whole country, if wheat is being bought at the highest price, it is in Rajasthan. The most expensive wheat procurement is happening here.” He credited the state’s proactive policies for ensuring that farmers receive fair and competitive prices for their produce.

Underscoring the symbiotic relationship between farming and animal husbandry, the Chief Minister said both sectors are being promoted together. “Farming and animal husbandry are a pair — they go hand in hand,” he added, pointing to integrated rural development efforts.

In a significant boost to rural women, Sharma announced an increase in the Gopal Credit Card scheme for women engaged in cattle rearing. “For our mothers and sisters, we had given ₹1 lakh under the Gopal Credit Card. We have increased it to ₹1.5 lakh,” he said.

The Gopal Credit Card aims to provide accessible financing for women in animal husbandry, allowing them to invest in livestock, feed, and infrastructure to expand their household income sources.

The announcements are being seen as part of the state’s broader strategy to strengthen rural economies, promote gender-inclusive growth, and ensure food security through farmer-friendly policies.
