Rajasthan BJP Chief Clarifies ‘Export Quality’ Remark on Suman Sharma

Date:

Rajasthan BJP President Madan Rathore has issued a clarification regarding his recent remark referring to BJP leader Suman Sharma as “export quality,” a comment that drew criticism and sparked controversy.

Addressing the media, Rathore said his words were being misinterpreted and that the intent behind the remark was to praise Sharma’s capabilities. “If someone is capable, they should be sent to other regions so their capabilities can be utilised. I said that Bihar’s daughter came to Rajasthan since she is capable. She can also go back and campaign for our party,” he explained.

Elaborating further, he added, “By ‘export’, I mean good quality, good sister, good daughter, and a capable woman. You should not misinterpret words. Suman Sharma is Bihar’s daughter and Jaipur’s daughter-in-law, and like a sister to me. She is a capable leader.”

Suman Sharma, a prominent face in Rajasthan BJP politics, has not commented publicly on the remark. However, Rathore’s clarification comes amid growing sensitivity around the language used to describe women leaders in Indian politics.

While critics have accused Rathore of making a sexist comment, his supporters argue the statement was intended as a compliment to Sharma’s leadership and organizational skills.
