Rajasthan Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore Supports Waqf Amendment Bill, Highlights Reform for Inclusivity

Date:

Jaipur, Rajasthan – Rajasthan Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore expressed strong support for the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, stating that the bill aims to correct historical errors and ensure the Waqf Board serves the interests of all Indians. Rathore praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking steps to rectify past mistakes and bring about significant reforms to the Waqf system.

“For a long time, some people had made errors in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is correcting those errors,” Rathore remarked, acknowledging the long-standing issues in the management of Waqf properties. He highlighted that the Waqf Board, which owns significant land assets, is now being reformed to make it more inclusive and accessible.

Rathore pointed out that the Waqf Board is one of the largest land-owning institutions in the country, second only to the army and railways. “After the army and railways, the third largest institution that owns land is the Waqf Board,” he noted. The reforms introduced under the Waqf Amendment Bill include measures to allow women to become members of the Waqf Board and open up membership to non-Muslims as well, promoting greater inclusivity.

“Now women are being admitted into it. Non-Muslims will become members. Now the Waqf is being corrected so that it is available for all Indians,” Rathore explained, emphasizing that the changes would ensure the proper and fair utilization of Waqf resources for the benefit of the broader society.

Rathore’s comments reflect the government’s vision of transforming the Waqf system to ensure transparency, equality, and inclusivity, marking a significant shift toward a more equitable approach in managing Waqf assets.
