Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his enthusiasm over the recent addition of new Ramsar Sites in India, highlighting the country’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. In a statement reacting to a post by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, Modi praised the growth in the number of Ramsar Sites, emphasizing their importance in maintaining ecological balance and supporting biodiversity.
“Indeed a joyous occasion for India that our Ramsar sites number rises, indicating the priority we accord to sustainable development as well as living in harmony with nature,” Modi remarked. He offered special recognition to the residents and officials of Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh, acknowledging their efforts in achieving this significant milestone.
The Ramsar Convention, an international treaty focused on the protection and sustainable management of wetlands, now includes these newly recognized sites, highlighting India’s proactive role in global environmental conservation.
