During his visit to the exhibition at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC)-2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has called for stronger collaboration among startups, industry, and research institutions to accelerate the commercialization of indigenous technologies and strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem.
He encouraged industry representatives, investors and other stakeholders to collaborate with startups and scientific institutions, with the aim of identifying practical applications for emerging technologies and helping to bring promising innovations to larger markets. This exhibition features 50 selected deep-tech startups, 13 departmental stalls and 10 departmental technologies, showcasing the nation’s growing scientific and technological capabilities.
Among the notable technologies on display was a nutritionally enhanced rice variety developed by CSIR–National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST). Known as CSIR Designer Rice, it contains around 20% protein and has a reported glycaemic index of 54, making it a low-GI food product with potential benefits for dietary management.
The exhibits highlighted advancements in indigenous electronics and sustainable materials, including JEET, a microcontroller designed by Signalchip for applications ranging from robotics and industrial automation to IoT devices and flight control systems.
The SCMC4212 unit integrates a Yati 32-bit RISC-V processor and an Avarta 32-bit digital signal processor. Visitors also explored bio-based packaging and other specialised products developed to support more sustainable material solutions.
Dr. Singh stated that better coordination among startups, industry, research institutions and the government will help in transforming scientific research into practical and commercial solutions, strengthening the nation’s technological capabilities and achieving the goal of Viksit Bharat@2047.
