Captain Smit Machhar was subjected to a life-threatening attack while the flight was in the air. Although he was critically injured in the assault, he did not lose his resolve. Reports indicate that following the attack, the aircraft suddenly plummeted 14,000 feet. Even in such perilous and life-threatening circumstances, the Captain regained control of the aircraft and averted a major disaster.

In a post on ‘X’, Prime Minister Modi hailed Pilot Smit Machhar as a ‘hero’. He stated that Smit Machhar’s bravery helped save hundreds of lives and averted a major tragedy. He wrote, “Captain Smit Machhar is a hero. Facing immense danger and despite being critically injured, he displayed indomitable courage and unwavering resolve to protect the lives of others.
